79 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment when a grant of £20,000 which was passed by the County Clare Enterprise Board for payment to a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The grant in this case was not approved by my Department as it was found to be ineligible under the criteria for the operation of the County Enterprise Fund by virtue of the fact that, when added to the value of the existing facilities, the total investment fell outside the threshold of £100,000. It should be noted in this regard that the fund was established essentially to assist small business start-ups and expansions.
