70 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the benefits of his recent trade visit to China; the possibilities for Irish exporters in China; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [673/94]
I assume the Deputy is referring to the trade mission which I led to Hong Kong, Guangdong and Shanghai from 12-16 September. The delegation consisted of 25 companies from a wide range of Irish industries including electronics, software, telecommunications, engineering components, technical instruments, consumer goods as well as several companies in the services sector. The main purpose of the mission was to help win new business in China and Hong Kong, and from this point of view the mission was highly successful, with the participants reporting significant new business and prospects as well as the consolidation of existing trading relationships.
