Written Answers. - Issue of Moneylenders' Licences.
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that moneylenders' licences are issued by them on foot of certificates granted by the District Court for the area in which the moneylenders' business is to be carried on. A total of 59 moneylenders' licences have issued during the current licensing year which commenced on 1 August, 1994. By virtue of the provisions of the Data Protection Act, 1988 the Revenue Commissioners are not permitted to disclose licensing details relating to individuals. However, the following is a list of 35 companies which currently hold a total of 41 moneylenders' licences.
