Vol. 445 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kildare School Accommodation Needs.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

144 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the number and location of primary schools in County Kildare in respect of which she has received representations from the school authorities requesting extensions or replacement; the plans, if any, she has to meet such requirements in 1994 or 1995; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1271/94]

Due to the inordinate staff time which would be required to source the detailed information sought by the Deputy and the necessity to deploy staff on more urgent work, it is not possible to supply the information required. However, if the Deputy specifies any particular school I will supply the required information.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

145 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education whether she has received submissions from second level school authorities throughout County Kildare requesting either extensions to existing facilities or replacement; the number and locations of venues; whether she will respond favourably in 1994 or 1995; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1272/94]

My Department is currently considering proposals for the provision of additional accommodation at the following schools in County Kildare: Scoil Íosa, Kilcock; Holy Family Secondary School, Newbridge; Patrician Secondary School, Newbridge; St. Paul's Secondary School, Monasterevan; Convent of Mercy Secondary School, Naas; Clane Community School, Clane.

It is not possible at present to state when agreement will be reached, with the schools concerned, on how best to meet their accommodation needs. The question of including any of the above proposals in the building programme will be considered, in due course, in the context of all the relevant building, educational and financial factors.
