109 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the plans, if any, he has to resurrect the electrical interconnection between North and South in view of the recent developments in the Peace Process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1255/94]
The recent developments in relation to Northern Ireland give rise to optimism that the interconnector between the ESB and Northern Ireland Electricity Systems could be restored.
The ESB and Northern Ireland Electricity are currently assessing the issues involved and I hope that there will be a successful outcome to this assessment.
