Vol. 445 No. 8

Written Answers. - Funding to Groups.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

112 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the amount of finance to be paid to an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 2 by his Department for 1994; when it will be paid; and if, in future years, the amount and timing of payments will be put on a more regular and definite basis. [1238/94]

Grants under my Department's special scheme of assistance to marriage guidance and counselling groups are being paid on a phased basis. The first of these payments was made last July and the second payments are in the process of being made. Third and final phase payments are proposed to be made in November next. All groups, including the group to which the Deputy refers, have been informed about their position. The allocations to the group concerned are £18,500 and £23,500 in July and October respectively. Third phase payments will be notified in due course to all groups. Subject to budgetary considerations my aim is to maintain the system which I have put in place in 1994 for the development of marriage guidance and counselling services.
