219 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if technological developments have advanced in the communications area to allow more space to be licensed on the frequency spectrum; in particular, if he will consider the licensing of community television; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can assure the Deputy that my Department keeps up to date with technological developments in the communications area and any advantageous application of such developments in relation to frequency spectrum management will be considered.
I presume that by "community television" the Deputy is referring to deflector systems. The Deputy will be aware that this issue is currently the subject of a High Court case which is scheduled for hearing in January 1995, and until the full hearing of that case, I cannot comment further on the issue.
