Vol. 445 No. 9

Written Answers. - FÁS Supervisors' Pay Increase.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

157 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the reason supervisors on FÁS schemes were denied any increase in pay in July 1994, while increases were being granted to other workers on these schemes. [1562/94]

I take it the Deputy is referring to the community employment programme (CE) introduced earlier this year as a replacement for the social employment scheme and a number of other programmes.

FÁS provides grants to sponsors of CE projects in respect of supervisors. Revised grant rates for supervisors were introduced when community employment was launched in April. The new rates are linked to the provision of development modules and are significantly higher than those which applied in respect of supervisors of social employment scheme projects. The new rates are payable to sponsors as and when the development modules are introduced for participants on their projects.
