Vol. 446 No. 1

Written Answers. - Concerns of Tallaght (Dublin) School Principals.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

124 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education the measures she has taken and intends to take in response to concerns raised by Tallaght primary school principals at a meeting with her on 12 July 1994. [1663/94]

The particular problems outlined by the schools in question have also been the subject of separate representations from a group of schools in the north inner city area. In both instances, the schools in question have made a case for special targeted support over and above that already provided under the disadvantaged areas scheme.

In order to consider possible models of response which would meet the needs of both groups of schools, it was necessary for my Department to secure detailed data on the precise nature and level of difficulty encountered in both areas. This information has now been received and my Department is currently considering how best to respond to the needs in question.
