Vol. 446 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Government Meeting and Dinner.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

11 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach the cost of the special Government meeting and dinner that took place in Tinakilly House, County Wicklow, on Monday, 17 October 1994. [1869/94]

The cost of the meeting and the dinner was £1,045.17.

Has the Taoiseach made a return booking there for safety's sake?

If the Deputy had been a member when her party was in Government she would have had the pleasure of attending a similar function outside Dublin which enabled the members of her party to be released from office pressures and talk freely about strategies for the future. That meeting was not a first time, once off operation and we will have another in due course.

To mend fences.

Can the Taoiseach say that the cost of a dinner for 15 was £1,045.17?

Does that figure include VAT?

Deputy Harney also likes to go out.

Not at such a cost per head.

The Deputy should have listened to the reply, the figure included the cost of a meeting and dinner.
