Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

127 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will supply a list of EU Directives relevant to his Department which are overdue for transposition into Irish law; and the expected date of their transposition. [2387/94]

While my Department's ongoing efforts have reduced the number of overdue Directives from 31 on 1 April 1944 to the present level, it is not possible to offer precise expected transposition dates for those currently overdue because, for example, of the need to put new primary legislation in place in certain cases and to complete consultations with the Attorney General's office in other cases. Progress is being regularly monitored and everything practicable is being done to complete the necessary transposition as expeditiously as possible.
