22 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will grant-aid round balers and wrappers for small farmers in the severely handicapped areas to help in the control of pollution; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2480/94]
Having examined the situation within my Department, it was considered that as the equipment in question involves considerable capital outlay, there would be no economic justification for the purchase of such equipment by smaller farmers. Round baling and wrapping is more appropriate to contractors and the availability of well equipped contractors would seem to meet the need at reasonable cost.
