Vol. 447 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Mining Licence Application.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

114 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he met with representatives of Arcon to discuss the company's application for a mining licence for the Galmoy ore body; and, if so, if he will give details of the date and location of each meeting and the persons from the company and his Department. [3532/94]

I met with representatives of the company on 22 February 1994 and 5 October 1994. These meeting were held in my office. I also met company representatives on two social occasions outside my office on 11 January 1994 and 10 August 1994. In any discussions that I have had with the company in relation to its application for a State mining licence I have always adhered to advice provided by officials of my Department.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

115 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the written and verbal communications received from Arcon between February 1990 and October 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3607/94]

Over more than the 4½ years referred to, there was obviously a considerable volume of wide ranging communications between my Department and Conroy Petroleum and Natural Resources, Atlantic Resources and later Arcon on issues relating to the companies' minerals prospecting licences, offshore petroleum licences and in connection with the Galmoy project.
