The Air Pollution Act, 1987 (Marketing, Sale and Distribution of Fuels) (Cork) Regulations, 1994, provide for a prohibition on the marketing, sale and distribution of bituminous fuel in designated areas of Cork from 13 February next. My Department has been assisting the Cork local authorities and other local interests concerned in the preparations for this coal ban, and is directly organising publicity measures which will begin shortly.
