194 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education in view of the Paircéir report on Westmeath vocational education committee, if she will clarify her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 4 on 31 May 1994; the reason for the original error; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1559/95]
The annual statutory financial statement of the vocational education committee (V15) submitted by Westmeath vocational education committee for 1993 showed a deficit of £450,000. This figure was provided in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 4 on 31 May, 1994. I pointed out that this was an unaudited figure and that following the audit of the accounts the balance of cash assets and liabilities in the audited accounts could be different from those shown on the financial statement initially submitted by the committee. Until the audit report on the 1993 finances of the committee has been completed by the Local Government auditor and submitted to the Department it is not possible to state the exact level of deficit at the end of 1993.
