208 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has for the empty prison officer houses in Cowley Place, North Circular Road, Dublin; and if the option of handing over the houses to Dublin Corporation for refurbishment has been examined. [1098/95]
The site occupied by these houses is ear-marked for a new purpose-built women's prison and I have directed that this important project should proceed as quickly as possible. The houses will be demolished to make way for the new prison.
In the circumstances the question of examining options of the kind suggested by the Deputy does not arise.
