Ceist:120 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment his views in relation to the on-going demands from the National Association of Tenants Organisation for recognition and negotiating rights on local authority rents. [1091/95]

The determination of the rents of their dwellings is an integral part of the housing management function of local authorities and there are no proposals to change this arrangement which is consistent with the Government's policy of devolution. As a body representing local authority tenants, the association is free to take up with individual authorities the operation of their rent schemes.
