123 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will increase the 30,000 gallon eligibility threshold for the redistribution of milk under the milk restructuring scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1721/95]
The threshold for entitlement to purchase milk quota under the most recent restructuring scheme was 55,000 gallons. The 30,000 gallon limit refers only to the first priority category under that scheme.
The operation of the quota system in Ireland is at present being reviewed by my Department and consultations with all of the interested parties is currently underway. Among the issues being considered are the priority categories under the various milk quota schemes.
