Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballyhale (Kilkenny) Vocational School.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

27 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if provision will be made in the 1995 estimates to enable the second phase of the Ballyhale Vocational School in County Kilkenny to proceed to tender; and if her attention has been drawn to the urgency of this case. [1486/95]

I am aware of the urgency attaching to the provision of satisfactory accommodation at Ballyhale vocational school which is the sole provider of post-primary education in its catchment area.

The Deputy will be aware that Phase 1 of a two phase development was provided last year to meet the more pressing needs of the school. Phase II, comprising mainly provision for the practical subject areas, is currently in architectural planning. In November 1994 the vocational education committee was authorised to prepare design proposals and those are awaited.

The Ballyhale vocational school project is one of a number I am considering for inclusion in the 1995 Capital Programme.
