The interdepartmental policy committee on local development did recommend that the full county of Sligo, including the Borough of Sligo, be a designated area under the local urban and rural development programme, as announced on 10 February, 1995, by the Minister of State for European affairs and local development.Copies of the statement have been laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.
