57 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Health the proposal, if any, he has to establish and develop multi-professional teams for the treatment, care and support of cancer victims and their families; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4495/95]
Limerick East): The Deputy will be aware that I have set as a priority the development of services to combat cancer.The approach will be multi-dimensional, drawing together the various elements in cancer prevention, treatment and rehabilitation and will thus improve the co-ordination of existing cancer programmes and services and will identify the development needs. One of the specific issues being addressed by the initiative on cancer is the integration of the various medical professionals involved in the cancer service towards developing a multi-professional input into the care, management and treatment of persons suffering from the disease.
