141 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he intends to have Cork Airport runway lighting upgraded by having centre strip lighting installed; the current category status of Cork Airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4849/95]
Centre strip lighting was installed at Cork Airport in 1988 which brought the airport up to category II status. This category status has meant that the diversion rate from the airport has been reduced from 3 per cent to 0.3 per cent thus substantially improving the performance of the airport in low visibility conditions.
