121 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the fact that there has been peace on this island for the last six months, if he will reconsider a grant under the INTERREG Programme for a feasibility study in relation to a proposed bridge at Narrow Water, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The framework programme for the INTERREG II Community Initiative for Border areas was recently approved by the European Commission. Invitations to submit proposals for funding under the programme will issue shortly to eligible local authorities, including Louth County Council. It will then be a matter for the council, in the light of the relevant criteria, to consider whether to put forward an application for grant assistance for the study referred to.
