Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Montenotte (Cork) School.

Máirín Quill

Ceist:

106 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to give permanent sanction to Gaelscoil An Ghoirt Álainn, Montenotte, Cork; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5344/95]

An application for permanent recognition in respect of the school referred to by the Deputy has recently been received in my Department. The school was granted provisional recognition with effect from 11 September 1993.

In the normal course, permanent recognition may be granted to a gaelscoil after a period of two-three years in operation, provided that my Department is satisfied that the school in question has a viable future and is being conducted in accordance with the Rules for National Schools. In accordance with standard practice in such cases, an inspector's report has been requested in relation to Gaelscoil An Ghoirt Álainn.
On receipt of the inspector's report, the school's application will be processed and a decision conveyed to the school authorities without delay.
