I wish to seek leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 30 to discuss the following matter of public importance requiring urgent attention: the projected closure of Silverlea in Athlone and Athy with the loss of 220 jobs. Despite the fact that the workers made a serious submission today regarding a buy-out the Minister has not indicated any interest in the matter.
Request to Move Adjournment of Dáil Under Standing Order 30.
The Deputy may not go beyond the notice she has given to me. Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by the Standing Order. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
Does the Government regard it as a matter of urgency?
Deputy Rabbitte has returned.
