Limerick East): Children under the age of 14 years are currently eligible for dental services provided by health boards.
These children will be provided with primary preventive dental care including dental health education, screening-examination, scale and polishing, fissure sealing and basic treatments, such as extractions and fillings. In addition, secondary care orthodontic treatment is provided for children identified while in national school as in need of treatment.
It is my objective, as outlined in the dental health action plan, to extend eligibility for health board dental services to children under 16 years of age.
