Vol. 451 No. 3

Written Answers. - Greyhound Exports.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

70 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, he has taken to ensure that the export of greyhounds to Spain from this country is terminated. [6637/95]

I am precluded by EU rules of competition from taking any steps to terminate the export of greyhounds to other member states of the Union.

My Spanish counterpart informed me at a recent meeting that mechanisms will be put in place to ensure that the recommendations of the World Greyhound Federation are observed. He also informed me that he intends to invite experts from the federation to visit Spain in order to satisfy themselves that appropriate action has been taken.
