Vol. 451 No. 4

Written Answers. - Operational Programme for Fisheries.

Máirín Quill

Ceist:

37 Miss Quill asked the Minister for the Marine in view of the recently announced Operational Programme for Fisheries stating that 50 per cent funding will be available to aquaculture and processing projects and only 27 per cent funding will be available to the fleet, the reason the branches and not the roots of this industry are to be fertilised. [6639/95]

The recently published Operational Programme for Fisheries represents a comprehensive integrated strategy for the development of the fisheries sector in the period up to 1999. A key aim of the programme is to increase employment by a total of some 2,000 in the fish processing and aquaculture sectors.
