Vol. 451 No. 4

Written Answers. - Marine Survey Office.

Brendan Smith

Ceist:

46 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Marine the proposals, if any, he has for an increase in staffing levels at the Marine Survey Office to enable it to carry out its duties in the area of surveying and safety in an adequate manner. [6625/95]

I am of the view that additional staff resources are required at the Marine Survey Office of my Department and this was confirmed by the Management Services Unit of the Department of Finance which undertook a study of the organisation and staffing of the office. Implementation of the recommendations of the Management report is dependent on availability of resources under the Department's administrative budget and this is the subject of a separate exercise in train at present. When that exercise has been concluded, I will take up the question of staffing levels at the Marine Survey Office with my colleague, the Minister for Finance.
