Vol. 451 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Scout Unit.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

140 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will request a response from the Garda at the Bridewell station, Dublin 7 regarding incidents of criminal assault, theft, vandalism and intimidation suffered by members of a scout unit (details supplied) in Dublin 9; if she will have arrangements made to have the allegation that the Garda have treated these incidents with inaction and indifference investigated; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6911/95]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda at the Bridewell station are aware of the incidents in question and that a member of the local neighbourhood police unit called to the scout den on 28 February. The member discussed the relevant incidents with the scout leaders and assured them that mobile and foot patrols would pay special attention to the area, particularly in the evenings. The member has also arranged to maintain regular contact with the scout unit. In these circumstances, it is clearly incorrect to say that the Garda have treated the incidents with inaction and indifference.
