Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Shortall — the need for a high-level co-ordinated response to the drug problem in Dublin; (2) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need to provide access to a methadone maintenance programme in all prisons and to enable drug abusers to continue the programme in the community following their release from prison; (3) Deputy Lynch — the need for school principals to be required to notify school attendance officers on a monthly basis of any suspensions or expulsions made and to expand the school attendance service nationally; (4) Deputy Quill — the need to consider the establishment of a drop-in information centre in Cork, similar in scope and function to ENFO in Dublin; (5) Deputy O'Malley — the £75 million disallowance proposed by the EU Commission for breaches of the beef intervention regulations in Ireland in 1990 and 1991; (6) Deputy O'Rourke — the need to give designated status to the part of Athlone where the Silverlea plant is located; (7) Deputy Noel Ahern — the progress made in relation to the examination of the shared ownership scheme suggested by Dublin Corporation; (8) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the need to upgrade and develop Mallow Racecourse; (9) Deputy Flanagan — the need to clarify the status of a teacher (details supplied) in County Offaly; and the consequent effect on County Offaly vocational education committee, and (10) Deputy Ellis — the delay in granting approvals under the farm building schemes.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Malley, O'Rourke, Noel Ahern and Flanagan have been selected for discussion.
