Vol. 451 No. 8

Written Answers. - Public Liability Insurance Premia.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

225 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the cost to the Exchequer and State agencies of public liability insurance premia and claims paid from the Exchequer for the last year for which figures are available; the plans, if any he has to reduce this cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7391/95]

In general, the State carries its own public liability risk. Consequently, my Department does not pay public liability insurance premia. There have been no claims against my Department since it was established in January 1993. With regard to the semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department, insurance expenditure in this area is a matter for the bodies concerned. I do not have any function in the matter.
