39 Mr. Ellis asked the Taoiseach if he will consider using the existing claims departments of semi-State companies such as CIE, either on a contract basis or otherwise, in view of the recommendations of the committee of review into the Office of the Attorney General in respect of legal claims against the State. The report of the review group on the office of the Attorney General endorsed the proposal of the office that a feasibility study should be conducted to determine whether the appointment of a claims manager to deal with personal injury claims against the State was justified. This study, which will consider the issue in detail, is due to commence shortly.
