Vol. 451 No. 8

Written Answers. - Claims against the State.

John Ellis

Ceist:

39 Mr. Ellis asked the Taoiseach if he will consider using the existing claims departments of semi-State companies such as CIE, either on a contract basis or otherwise, in view of the recommendations of the committee of review into the Office of the Attorney General in respect of legal claims against the State. [7271/95]

The report of the review group on the office of the Attorney General endorsed the proposal of the office that a feasibility study should be conducted to determine whether the appointment of a claims manager to deal with personal injury claims against the State was justified. This study, which will consider the issue in detail, is due to commence shortly.
