100 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the cost to the Exchequer and State agencies of public liability insurance premia and claims paid from the Exchequer for the last year for which figures are available; the plans, if any he has to reduce this cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The cost to the Exchequer and State agencies operating under the aegis of my Department of the payment of public liability insurance premia for the last year for which figures are available is as follows: Legal Aid Board — for the period August 1994 to August 1995: £1,790.54 and Employment Equality Agency — for the period October 1994 to October 1995: £816.00.
No claims were paid by the Exchequer in 1994 in respect of public liability insurance for either of these bodies. The payment of public liability insurance premia is kept under constant review to ensure that the associated costs are kept to a minimum.
