9 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of official receptions hosted since the change of Government on 15 December 1994; the number planned for the remainder of 1995; the events or meetings these receptions mark; and the number and purpose of such receptions during 1994. [7957/95]

No official receptions have been hosted by me or the Minister of State since 15 December 1994.

At present there are three receptions planned for the remainder of the year. These receptions are being held to mark; the official opening of my Department's new office in Tallaght; a meeting of the European Federation of Food Banks and a conference of the European Institute for Social Security.

Ten official receptions were held during 1994 before I took office. The information requested in relation to these receptions is contained in the following tabular statement:

(1) Reception to mark the official opening of the decentralised social welfare office in Longford on 25-2-1994.

(2) St. Patrick's Day Reception hosted by the Secretary in New Zealand on 17-3-1994.

(3) Reception at Dublin Castle in honour of European Observatory of National Family Policies on 8-4-1994.

(4) Reception to mark official opening of Mallow social welfare office on 30-5-1994.

(5) Reception to mark official opening of refurbished Carlow social welfare office on 10-6-1994.

(6) Reception held in Dublin Castle to mark 150th anniversary of St. Vincent de Paul on 29-4-1994.

(7) Reception in connection with meeting of respite care groups held in Dublin Castle on 3-6-1994.

(8) Focus on Children Conference reception held in Dublin Castle on 21-9-1994.

(9) Reception to mark the launch of Homestart's annual report and cheque presentation in Ashtown Castle on 27-9-1994.

(10) Reception to mark the launch of new widower's pension at Dublin Castle on 28-10-1994.
