Vol. 452 No. 5

Written Answers. - Outstanding Liability Claims.

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

124 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will direct the new Chief Executive of CIE to settle the outstanding liability claims against CIE resulting from the serious rail crash involving a pilgrimage train to Knock Shrine in 1989, in view of the injuries sustained by the passengers concerned. [8232/95]

The settlement of liability claims by CIE is a matter for the company in accordance with judgements of the courts. I have no function in this matter.
