Vol. 452 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Tom Foxe — the serious situation that has arisen as a result of the suspension of the control of farmyard pollution grants and the consequent effect of this on the rural environment protection scheme; (2) Deputy Deasy — the problems caused by the lack of a proper sewerage system in Tramore, County Waterford; (3) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the difference of opinion regarding the inclusion of the family income supplement as additional income for the purposes of the means test under the differential rent scheme administered by local authorities; (4) Deputy Seán Kenny — the need for an immediate response by the Garda Síochána to the ongoing serious assaults on public transport workers in the Dublin area; (5) Deputy Tom Kitt — the need for a report on the plans by Packard Electric, Tallaght to lay off 400 members of its workforce; (6) Deputy Kathleen Lynch — the need to provide a comprehensive and integrated rehabilitation programme for offenders, both during and after sentencing; (7) Deputy Eric Byrne — the increased threat to health and safety in Ireland arising from the UK government's reported intention of privatising large sections of the nuclear industry; and, in particular, the possibility that British Nuclear Fuels Limited, which operates Sellafield, may be privatised; (8) Deputy O'Malley — the administration of the Southern Fisheries Board; and alleged malpractice of officials of the board.

The matters raised by Deputies Deasy, Dermot Ahern, Seán Kenny and Tom Foxe have been selected for discussion.
