174 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funds for an assembly hall at a Church of Ireland national school (details supplied) in County Wicklow in view of the urgent need for such a facility in the area. [8876/95]
I have approved the provision of general purpose rooms in new primary school building projects in respect of schools of four classrooms or more. Due however to the demands it would impose on the available financial resources I regret that it is not possible to grant-aid the provision of such facilities in existing schools. I have already written to the chairperson of the board of management of the school in question informing him of my decision in this matter.
