Vol. 452 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

198 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in the allocation of grants in the agri-tourism scheme. [8470/95]

The scheme was launched in early March and application forms were available from the regional tourism companies and Shannon Development in the mid west.

The original closing date for applications was 28 April 1995. Many applicants requested more time to complete their application and submit the necessary supporting documentation.

In these circumstances it was agreed to extend the closing date for the submission of applications for the first tranche of funds under the agri-tourism scheme until 29 May.

Preliminary inspections are being carried out on existing applications. However, final consideration of projects for grant aid, having regard to regional priorities, will only be completed after the closing date. Applications will then be processed as quickly as possible.
