Vol. 453 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Mary Coughlan

Ceist:

83 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education whether or not a family (details supplied) in County Donegal will be considered for concessionary fare-paying school transport. [9129/95]

My Department would be prepared to allow these children avail of concessionary fare-paying transport to the school in question, provided that the board of management of their nearest school gives its written agreement to their transportation.

Fare-paying tickets are issued on condition that spare accommodation exists after all eligible children have been catered for, and that no extra State cost is incurred by way of altering or extending the route, or the provision of an additional or larger bus.
It is understood from Bus Éireann that accommodation is currently available on the vehicle serving the school in question.
