Limerick East): Proposals for the amendment of the existing appeals arrangements within the health boards, to place them on a formal and independent footing are being actively pursued in my Department at present. The envisaged appeals mechanism will cater for appeals against health board decisions to refuse to award medical cards and appeals arising from health board decisions in relation to applications for nursing home subvention payments.
