Ceist:72 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the total moneys outstanding to the eight health boards by his Department; if he will give a breakdown of these moneys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9571/95]
Written Answers. - Health Boards Funding.
Limerick East): The total amount in balances due at present is estimated to be £3.732 million. The details are contained in the following table. Of this £2.613 million is due in respect of 1994 allocations and an estimated £1.119 million due in respect of 1993. The figures for 1993 will be finalised after a review of the final accounts submitted by the boards for that year.
Health boards are funded by way of an approved level of net non-capital expenditure which is notified to each of them at the beginning of the year. The level of cash approved for each board in a year combines cash in respect of the current year and previous years. This cash together with the approved working capital levels set for the boards, allows them to operate within the expenditure levels approved and meet their liabilities within the approved time limits.
The cash is issued in line with profiles agreed at the beginning of each year and as part of this process it is normal that balances are issued in the first half of the year. The current position is therefore in line with the normal procedures operated by my Department.
