Vol. 454 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cashel (Tipperary) School Appointment.

Noel Davern

Ceist:

122 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to unblock the appointment of five posts of responsibility at Cashel community school. County Tipperary; and if this is the only school in Ireland which does not have such appointments made. [10139/95]

Cashel community school was established in 1994 following the amalgamation of the three post-primary schools in the town. Five A-posts of responsibility are being blocked by two former principals and three former vice-principals who are on the staff of the school and who are in receipt of appropriate allowances on a personal basis.

My Department intends to hold early discussions with the interested parties on staffing issues connected with rationalisation, including the blocking of posts of responsibility. Pending the outcome of those discussions, I am not prepared to sanction the appointment of an additional five A-post holders in Cashel community school. Cashel community school is not the only school in Ireland where posts of responsibility are blocked.
