Ahern asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the number employed in all semi-State bodies under his Department's control; the equivalent figures for 1992; and if he will give a breakdown between the numbers employed on a contract basis and permanent staff for the last three years. The numbers employed in each of the individual State companies in my area of responsibility can be ascertained from the published accounts and reports which are available in the Dáil Library.
Whether staff are employed on a permanent or contract basis is a day-to-day administrative matter for each State company and one in which I have no function.
