Vol. 455 No. 3

Written Answers - Supply of Incontinence Nappies.

Mary Wallace

Ceist:

40 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the absurd and demeaning restrictions which are frequently applied to the supply of incontinence nappies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11368/95]

Limerick East): The supply of incontinence nappies is a matter for the health boards and health boards endeavour to meet the needs of patients in a manner which is not wasteful of resources. I understand that health boards assess applicants on an individual basis and in a professional and sensitive manner taking into account the applicant's needs and circumstances. However, if the Deputy is aware of any cases of difficulty or hardship, I will immediately refer the details to the relevant health board for urgent investigation.
