The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed allocation of manpower and resources to individual areas.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the James's Street area is policed by the gardaí attached to Kilmainham Garda station. They inform me that the area receives ongoing uniform foot patrols which are augmented by regular mobile patrols by both uniform and plain clothes personnel.
A community garda is also assigned to the James's Street area and he performs frequent foot patrols as well as liaising with the local community. The sergeant in charge of community policing for the area and the community garda are, at present, in the process of setting up a residents block committee in the St. James's Street flats complex.
The Garda authorities are satisfied that the present policing arrangements are adequate to meet the needs of the James's Street area but the position will be kept under review and any adjustments considered necessary will be made.
