Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Miscarriage of Justice Claims.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

261 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will assist a prisoner (details supplied) regarding new evidence demonstrating his innocence. [12936/95]

The prisoner referred to by the Deputy has written to me recently claiming that there has been a miscarriage of justice in relation to his conviction. He has not supplied any evidence to me in support of his claim. He has been advised to seek legal advice in the matter. I understand that he is preparing an appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeal against his conviction. This is a judicial process in which I have no function.
