Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Phone-tapping.

John O'Donoghue

Ceist:

301 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice if a claim by a journalist for alleged phone-tapping against the State has been settled by the Government; the amount which was paid; when the sum was paid; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [13201/95]

The High Court was informed on 28 July 1995 by the legal representatives of both parties that an action taken by a journalist against the State had been settled by agreement between the parties. Part of the agreement is that the terms of the settlement remain confidential to the parties.
