Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Third Level Allowance Scheme.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

314 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will review the application of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 10 to enable her to do a post-graduate diploma in view of the fact that she has been on the live register for one year but is just below the required age limit for a third level allowance. [13048/95]

Under the Third Level Allowance Scheme unemployed persons may attend a third level institution and receive a payment equivalent to their previous unemployment payment. Persons wishing to pursue undergraduate studies must be over twenty one years and a minimum of six months signing the Live Register. Those wishing to follow postgraduate studies must be over twenty seven years and twelve months unemployed. I am currently reviewing these conditions and will contact the Deputy as soon as possible on the matter.
