Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Horgan's Quay Site, Cork.

Seamus Brennan

Ceist:

397 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if the sale of the Horgan's Quay site in Cork has been approved by his Department; and when the sale is likely to be completed. [13225/95]

Seamus Brennan

Ceist:

398 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if his Department approved the sale of the Horgan's Quay site in Cork prior to May 1995. [13226/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 397 and 398 together. Under the Transport Acts, the board of CIE may dispose, whether absolutely or for a term of years or for any lesser period, of any property which in the opinion of the board is not required by it for the discharge of its duties. Such disposals do not require ministerial or departmental approval.

Ceist:

399 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he sought details from CIE of matters relating to the sale of the Horgan's Quay site in Cork prior to May 1995; whether the proposed sale of the site was considered by his Department prior to May 1995; if so, when it was considered; by whom it was considered; and the conclusions arrived at. [13227/95]

I did not seek details from CIE of matters relating to the sale of the Horgan's Quay site in Cork prior to May 1995. The sale of the property in question was raised with CIE by officials of my Department in November 1994 and was the subject of a statement by my predecessor during the Adjournment Debate of 3 November 1994 (columns 1913-1916).
